Talent Management Pioneer, Downsizing Expert and Author
to Counsel and Develop Tools for International Clientele
Washington, DC (January 28, 2013) – Vienna, VA-based Tercon Consulting, an international organizational development firm specializing in major capital projects, today named acclaimed author and expert on talent management and organizational change Dr. Kenneth De Meuse Executive Vice President of Research and Product Development, announced founder and CEO of Tercon, Jeannette Terry.
De Meuse, most recently the Vice President of Global Research at Korn/Ferry International, has published more than 50 peer-reviewed journal articles, authored five books, and delivered numerous keynote addresses on organizational behavior, employee attitudes and team effectiveness. De Meuse’s ground-breaking article in American Psychologist on team development has been cited in other professional publications over 1400 times and his most recent book, FYI for Total Engagement: Driver of Best Practice for Managers and Business Leaders, has been purchased by companies worldwide to enhance employee performance.
“Clearly, Ken’s decision to join Tercon was a major coup for us,” said Terry, who has led the firm’s successful expansion of clients and services in recent years. “Effective talent management is one of the most important areas in organizational development today – both for those companies embarking on major capital projects and those facing downsizing decisions. We can now offer our clients the counsel of one of the world’s leading authorities on talent assessment and development.”
De Meuse, whose research findings have been the subject of inquiry by more than 100 universities and 200 corporations, will be working with Tercon’s international roster of consultants to develop proprietary analytical tools for the firm’s high-performance team and leadership development practices.
“Joining Tercon presented a unique opportunity for me to apply my experience and passion from 25+ years in higher education and business into the creation of comprehensive new approaches and tools for recruiting, developing and retaining high potential managers,” said De Meuse, who developed Korn Ferry’s viaEDGE and ProSpective – two of the most used client assessments in the firm’s history.
While Tercon’s largest clients are in the global energy industry, De Meuse’s relocation from Minnesota to Washington represents additional opportunities in the federal market.
“The U.S. government, facing a wave of retirements, a shortage of upcoming leaders, and a challenging budgetary environment, would benefit greatly from incorporating a learning agility assessment into its talent management system,” said De Meuse. “This measure of personal adaptability would identify the resourceful, flexible talent that the government needs going forward.”
In addition to being a prodigious writer, De Meuse has served on the faculties of Iowa State University and the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, and has provided management consulting and coaching services to Union Carbide Corporation, the Intergraph Corporation, Nestle USA, Lucent Technologies, Presto Industries, Ayres Associates, the Mayo Clinic, and the US Department of Energy.
De Meuse’s contributions to the science and practice of talent management have been recognized by the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology with his election to Fellow, as well as by the national media. He has appeared on ABC News, CNN, AP Radio, and National Public Radio and his research has been featured in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, Fortune, U.S. News & World Report, The New York Times, and USA Today.
De Meuse earned a Ph.D. in industrial/ organizational psychology from the University of Tennessee, a Master’s degree in psychology from the University of Nebraska and a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and mass communications from the University of Wisconsin.
